Worried About Tornadoes?

Severe weather in Pittsburg County (where DAC is located) typically happens during the spring and early summer months and usually consists of thunderstorms and high winds. Only two instances of tornadoes touching down in the McAlester area has taken place in the last 10 years. If you are interested in learning more about the weather in Pittsburg County, click here. Having a plan in place and knowing where to go for a safe storm-proof location is key given the slight possibility of severe weather strong enough to make you seek shelter. Currently shelters are available at the high school and on the base.
